Our repair department is headed by Jon (Jian Min) Li. With over twenty years of experience, first in China and then in the United States, Jon is highly qualified in all areas of repair and restoration. In addition to his violin repair skills, Jon is a fine bow maker whose skills extend into bow restorations as well. We take pride in the quality of our repair and restoration work. Our reputation, in large part, is based on our repair services; our many years of loyal customers show that we are doing it right. Though we take pride in our restoration and repair skills, simple adjustments and repairs also get our full attention. We at Kamimoto Strings continually strive to earn and keep the support of our public and private teachers and their students.

We also do bow rehairs, and have two horsehair qualities to choose from: regular, and premium.

Below are tesimonials about our repair quality:

Tim M. from San Francisco, CA. on 4/13/2010 – Yelp
My cello fell from my back in a soft case onto the sidewalk. The resultant damage to the top plate was horrendous with two splits, one of which the wood tore laterally with the grain actually subducting under…you get the picture. I thought me cello was long gone, But Jim, the most wonderful repair guy, actually lifted and re-merged the wood very carefully. The resultant repair was so wonderful it brought tears to my eyes. And the cello sounded better than before!!
